may whatever engineer designed its location spend eternity in purgatory
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Some cars are like that. I am pretty sure the Volvo 242 I had was built around the heater core!

Well, duh! That's why it's called the core.

Helped my neighbor change a heater core on a 2000s-ish Chevy blazer- had to remove everything down to the firewall to get to it.

Behind the glove box?  I thought most cars had it behind the glove box.

Or is there something special about the CRV?

generation 1 crv you remove glove box door  2 easy bolts  then remove plastic panel on right   1 screw  then remove one plug and 4 screws on right edge of center dash panel  that allows yoyu to bend center panel back enough to get to the 3 bolts on that side  then three bolts on right side to drop metal bar that glove box door mounts to.  then its relocate a wiring bundle and remove remove a lil cover and replace element in frame and reverse.   newer ones are much easier. its about 1/2 hour if you've done it before

Sheesh! What a bother.

'06 Toyota Corolla: Open glove box. Push sides toward center to remove box. Push latches on filter cover. Remove cover. Remove filter. Reverse to install.

If you're slow, it'll take 60 seconds. Fast? 15. No tools needed, and I didn't look in the manual. Had never done it before but a cousin said it should be behind the glove box.

Mine had several dead (pinky) mice and the nest on top. It smelled really, really bad, since it was in July...
