Chuck Yeager Breaks Sound Barrier Again
« on: October 14, 2012, 09:38:47 PM »
Kind of a bummer it coincided with Baumgartner's (really cool) feat today, since Baumgartner got most of the press, but Chuck Yeager got to fly an F-15 to re-enact his breaking of the sound barrier on October 14, 1947.

Wow - 89 and still flying  :O
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

I've always wanted to go over mach. I've done .9? years ago. If he can do it at 89 I still have hope.

I raise my glass to Chuck.

So, when he asks for a tower fly-by, do you think anyone ever tells him no?  =D

I would.  My job isn't worth his glory.  Enter the pattern how I told you to, ahole, or I'm telling FSDO  :-*
I know a few old controllers who've dealt with him in the past, and word is he's a prick.
