I thought I would hate it but it was a fun show. Not something that I would seek out but if I happened upon it I might stay and watch the hi-jinkery.
In one ep the boys were burning leaves in the driveway and one of them was worried the neighbors might complain. I was really confused as to why this would be until my wife told me they had moved into a HOA. Therefore it was agin' the rules to burn leaves or keep chickens or set up a shootin' range and so forth.
So one dude decides he is going to go to a meeting of this here HOA and tell them a few things about what it means to be an American in America and freedom and all that. So he gets up and starts speechifies for a bit and then the president of that there HOA points out that he had singed a contract stating he would not engage in such un-neighborly behaviors.
So the dude is startled by this as he had not read the contract, meanwhile his wife is rolling her eyes because had he listened to her in the first place all of this could have been avoided.
Now, in other shows this would have just been the beginning of a long row as he would petulantly try to get his way. But not here, and this what endeared me to the show and the folks on it; when informed that he had signed a contract he stopped making his case and said (approx) "Well now, that's the end of that! Time to leave, dear." He kept to the word he wasn't even aware he gave.
He did grab up the casserole they brought though and take it back. I mean, no one is perfect.
