Smallest USB flash drive?
« on: July 20, 2006, 08:28:21 AM »
I'm trying to find a USB drive that is small and durable enough that I can carry it habitually.  Most of the ones I see are close to 3" long and 1/2" thick, and I already have enough things on my keyring.  Price is more important than capacity, since I will only store a few small files.  Any recommendations?

Go to www.ThinkGeek.com

They have some that are barely any bigger than the SDRAM chip inside them. They're not even the size of a USB plug, since they're only the size of the "tounge" that slides inside.

Another brand is the PQI intellistick. You can google it, or try some meta price engine like pricegrabber.

I have the SanDisk Cruzer Micro

It has gone through the laundry a couple of times and still works.  I carry it with me everyday.

Do you wear a badge for work? For the longest time I carried a data key on my lanyard.

Ditto on the Sandisk Cruzer Micro.  Never sent it through the wash, but the little bugger's certainly strong.

I'll second the PQI Intelligent Stick.   Like you, I wanted something that would always be with me.
It comes with a plastic holder that lets you hold 2 of them in your wallet.  I've had the 512M version for about a year or so, and just bought the 1G version recently.  So where ever I am, I have 1.5gig of storage in my pocket.

This turns any SD/MMC memory card up to a gig into a USB drive.  Great companion piece for cameras based on SD-type memory.
