CNN ran a story this morning about gun buybacks.  The story is actually a surprising piece for CNN as it talks about the proposed AWB barely making a scratch on gun homicides.

What's sad is the headline pic showing a barrel full of guns.  If you want to cry, take a look and see what's going to be sent to the chopper.

Don't cry too much - I'm certain that some of the better examples will be "rescued" from destruction by our fine law enforcement professionals who have an appreciation for fine engineering and are the only ones professional enough to manage their care and feeding.

Most are probably stolen.  A few probably came from grandma's nightstand after grandpa passed away.

Was that an airgun on the top? Hmmm... if the cops are dumb enough to take BB guns at a buyback, I bet I could score a few dozen for significantly less than they're paying.

It's been demonstrated before they'll take almost anything.  Ragged out non functioning .22 single shot rifle that has been in the barn for fifty years?  Get yourself a hundred bucks young man!  BB guns, etc.

I was going to say it might be FEG 1901/03 model, but the distance between the grip and trigger guard is wrong.

The grip style and the distance to the trigger makes it look almost as if it were a single-shot target pistol related to the Bergman Simplex autos. The "grip safety" might be some sort of set-trigger mechanism for a light trigger pull.

Googling isn't coming up with much.
