Saturday after pheasant hunting we did a little plinking on the property. Sadly I didn't know we were going to do that so I didn't have any of my plinking guns or ammo with me. I just had my SXP 12ga and an M&P45 with BB hard casts.. Happily that meant I was shooting somebody else's ammo!
Matt had bought a brand new Colt .22 AR which I think is the one made by umarex. It ran just fine on blazer .22. Matt then brought out his other guns and I don't think be buys into the concept of cleaning or oiling. He had a very old buckmark that was covered in rust and gritty. It had some FTE and stovepipe issues that a good cleaning would likely have solved. Then he brought out a blued Colt Combat Commander 1911 that looked like it had been left out in the rain for a a while. Very rusted and lightly pitted, plus the grips were cracked down the middle. We shot it anyway and it ran perfectly with ball ammo. After that I couldn't stand it and got out my stash of rem oil wipes I keep in the shotgun case and at least got the 1911 oiled. I wasn't a nazi about it, I just said "Hey, I shot this let me give a quick wipe down." The pitting wasn't too bad, I put out a standing offer that if he ever wants to unload the Colt to give me a crack at it.
He believes in redundancy, he has bought one of each generation of the S&W Model 59 series 9mm autos. Those were fun to shoot!
