"Terminator arm"

This is the first prosthetic arm I've seen that actually looks decent. Now if it just had a phased plasma attachment...

Saw this on a recent episode of "HAWAII 5-O" called "Hookman."
The episode was a remake of an episode by the same title of the original series in which private eye J. J. Arms (a psuedonym used for work) guest stared as a psycho killer who'd lost his hands in an accident and used two hooks.  Arms actually had lost his hands and used prosthetics which were controlled by a cable implanted in the muscles of his forearms, a rather unusual way of achieving control of an artificial hand nearly half-century ago.
In the original 1970s episode, "Hookman" would meticuously engrave the name of his intended victim on a metal plate and attach it to the side of an M-1 Carbine, and then assassinate his victim with the carbine, leaving it at the site for Jack Lord's McGarrett to find.
In the remake, the plot was very much the same.....the actor who played the assassin role's name I cannot remember right now but he was the original "Robocop" ... a sort of interesting aside.
There are ever-increasing advances in the field of bionics and cybernetics which are allowing much more sophisticated replacements for lost body parts.  A Swiss man who lost his right hand due to a cancer receievd a bionics hand that is directly controled by the same nerves that control a human hand.  Each finger is capable of independent movement.   The next version of this prosthesis will, according to the article I read about this, be permanently attached to the wrist.

That's Peter Weller.

Right.  Peter Weller... they did a good job making whatever he was using look like real prosthetics.... I don't think Peter Weller is a real-life amputee.

You can always tell when an actor is wearing a fake prosthetic arm... it's way too long, longer than what the forearm would be. Look at Merle in The Walking Dead. They could have done a better job of it, maybe to the actor's discomfort, but still more genuine looking.

I was thinking CGI for Weller's arm in that 5-O episode,  So far as Merle yea, it is longer than it ought to be....the show doesn't have the budget 5-O does.
