Has it really been that long? 40 years ago today (3/24) Pink Floyd released Dark Side of the Moon. Pity my T-shirt didn't last as long, but on the plus side, they are still available, if I really wanted one.  =D

God I love Pink Floyd.

I saw Roger Waters do "The Wall" in Phoenix a couple years ago.  Best concert of my life.

1975, I had just recently been stationed in San Diego, Pink Floyd played the Sports Arena. They did the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, along with other songs. I loved being in San Diego during that time, more concerts than you could imagine!

Meh.

Got nothing against them. Good band, good music and the whole Dark Side of the Moon with Wizard of Oz is a total trip. They just arn't my favorite band in the world. By the time I came across the hard core Floyd fans, I had already been listining to stuff like King Crimson and so it just wasn't that novel.

I do think it's funny that Dad claims to have lost intrest in them after Meddle which is also about the same time Barret had to go away. I think it really shows what he looks for in a band.

At the time, I was driving a 1968 Roadrunner, and had a Craig Powerplay 8 track, with pioneer cabinet speakers in the back seat. That tape got played a lot.

Both DSOTM and WYWH are masterpieces.
Glenn Beck once did an awesome Easter/DSOTM radio show that I really enjoyed.

It was during the WYWH tour in 75 that they played the entire DSOTM album, along with cuts from WYWH. Probably one of the top concerts I ever attended.

I would echo (heh) what you just said, but it would have been this show:

early in my sobriety I was listening to the radio and the DJ said that there was rumors that Pink Floyd was going on tour.
I immediately started worrying how on earth would I be able to go see them and not indulge.
nearly 18 yrs later, not a problem but for those first few yrs that would have been quite some trigger.
