It's really very mystical and metaphysical, when you think about it as a metaphor for how everything in life is inter-related. She starts with something as light as a feather (literally ... duh), constructs an elaborate creation around it, and by simply removing the feather (which is probably less than one-tenth of one percent of the total weight/mass of the construction) ... it all falls apart.
