Quote
As Stacy went out the door of his trailer, he passed a scoped Bushmaster AR-15 with a loaded 30-round magazine. He later reflected on that fact and said that maybe he should have grabbed the rifle, but said that as it turned out, the pistol was sufficient.

This kind of story gives me the the warm fuzzies. Enjoy

As merry as the ancient sun and fighting like the flowers.

That takes a LOT of faith, to remain armed in the vicinity of a rampaging gunman, and an approaching police siren. (But then I repeat myself) :P

Even odds on the cop shifting aim from the covered target, to Stacy, as Stacy begins to fire at the gunman.  Especially if Stacey is an easier shot to make.

I'd probably engage a looney on my block if it ever happened, but I'd get hidden and gone quick if it wasn't resolved before I heard sirens.

I pretty much always grab a rifle if I am going outside to check on something.

And like AZ, these days I'm pretty ambivalent about helping out police ...  =|

It was Texas after all.  But yeah, if he had grabbed the rifle it likely would have been over with one shot from the citizen.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

50 yards with a 6" barreled revolver isn't to bad a shot.  I practice at that distance with my 357 revolvers.  Under stress it is impressive.

I can certainly see the problem of getting involved in a shootout.  I can see it would be good to hide yourself from both sides.

As far as trees go, that tree didn't look quite big enought to hide from a rifleman.

He got a nice rifle out of it. Glad to hear that it ended well
