Long Guns of the FBI
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:20:02 AM »
For anyone who gets "American Rifleman", this month's issue has an interesting story on log guns used throughout the history of the FBI. I had to look a few of them, like the Colt Monitor, up as I'd never heard of them before. As late as 1969 they were using Remington 760 pump guns.

I read that article earlier this week, and I hadn't heard of the Colt Monitor as well.  I thought it was a fairly well written article but was pretty brief and I was wanting more.

I thought that was a BAR.  The open-bolt variety, not the new ones.

Isn't that a version of the BAR? Also, I believe he shot trap with machine guns several times in that book.

Yup, the Colt Monitor was a variant of the M1918 BAR, with pistol grip and Cutts Compensator.

You are right.

Page 242 has reference to someone else shooting skeet with a BAR.

Page 244 has this, though:

"Hey, all of you!" Doyle yelled.  "Henry here's going to shoot some more trap with the BAR."

Is a Monitor a type of BAR?

ETA:  ah, G98 answered this.  Thanks!
