Here in poly-ticks because it's going to end up here anyway.

http://www.waff.com/story/23539572/service-offers-gun-owners-a-place-to-store-firearms-during-work

The idea has been kicked around many times.  This is the first time I can recall where someone has actually put it into operation.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

This means that every person leaving this facility at start of business day is guaranteed to be unarmed.

Just another gun free zone.  And it's playing into the perception of legitimacy of disarming employees or customers based on government GFZ's or private property GFZ's.

(I personally think GFZ's are immoral/invalid in establishments that are open to the public.  Once you shift to private club format such as Costco, and deliberate written contracts to utilize facilities, then you can have your private GFZ.  Government GFZ's should be outlawed.)

I have a place, it's called a car. My company policy forbids weapons in the building. I'm not the only nut that works there, WWIII could start if we get to the parking lot.

I have seen this in practice, recreational services runs a shooting range on the Marine side of Naval Base Norfolk. They have day rental lockers as well as long term lockers. I kept three long term lockers full of guns there when I was homeless, go in, shoot, lock them back up and go back to home, sweet boat. Nice when you deployed to know your guns were climate controlled, locked up inside a facility that was either locked and alarmed or staffed with armed clerks. Oh, and inside the fenceline of the USMC, next to the FAST company.

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

I think their target audience is people for whom it would not be good to carry a weapon in their car...like working on a base.

Otherwise bolt a safe in your car and you're GTG. If you're not on a military base odds are your car isn't subject to search.

Used to be that way, but I'm reading more reports of folks trying to fight termination for violation of company policy discovered when they allowed company goons (HR or mid-management) to look in their car as opposed to being walked out the door immediately after refusing to allow them to look in the first place.

Best one I have read so far was a guy who arranged to park on the next property over.  He still paid taxes on the imputed income from the reserved (pay attention - that was a clue) parking space his company provided on their lot.  To date his argument against termination is that it was a reserved space, not an assigned space.  Had it been assigned he wouold have been required to use it, but if only reserved he could choose not to use it without penalty.  It's looking good so far that they will have to reinstate him.
