Calls day and night from VoIP phones?

For the last couple of weeks I've been getting several calls a day, at all times of day and night, and there's nobody there. The calls are coming to my cell phone, even at 3 am.

I did a reverse search on the numbers, and they're all from VoIP phones in the US, but spread all over the US.

Any idea what might be going on?

Scouting - they want to know what time your phone is most likely to be answered. Once they pattern you, they'll sell this information to telemarketers.

What are you using to do the reverse search? My wife got a VOIP (that's the only info I could get on a search) call on her cell from someone Spanish speaking (my wife is Hispanic as well) saying she needed to send them $348 or she would have to pay $4000 for something from 2010.

I tried a search but could not find any specifics (other than VOIP from either Miami or the keys). I used to do reverse phone searches and get specifics, if it was a listed number. I'm sure it's a scam but would really like to trace it.

As for your situation (and mine as well) I suspect they are spoofing (?) using other people's servers to hide.

I called every number, and got nothing except "the number or code you have dialed is incorrect" error recording.

Thanks. I gave it a try but it seems they all want money to give you any more info than general location and type of line.

Dick, here's a site I dug out of my forgotten bookmarks, which is put together by users and is useful for finding out if others have been getting the same crap.
