"My Side of the Mountain"...for 27 years

Quote
Through trial and error, Vance said, Knight learned how to live through the harsh Maine winters in a campsite obscured by thick trees and ringed by large boulders. He stockpiled enough food in the fall to last until March, deliberately put on extra weight for the winter, and traveled only at night.

But then again not really...

Quote
“He admitted to approximately 40 burglaries a year for the last 27 years,” Vance said.
I shall not die alone, alone, but kin to all the powers,
As merry as the ancient sun and fighting like the flowers.

So the only difference between him and Thoreau is that Mr. Knight did not ask folks before he took stuff that did not belong to him.

Well, that and that he lasted for 27 years while Thoreau barely made it a year.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.

That's thoreauly illegal.

Odd, and interesting.

I'd have more respect for the guy if he would develop relationships with neighbors to split wood or perform other chores in exchange for clothing, propane, etc.  Breaking in is rude and dangerous.

I reject your authoritah!
