Obamacare Site Security (or, lack therof)
« on: January 16, 2014, 11:58:04 AM »
I had to note this, not only for the political implications, but the interesting way that I just learned about Mr. Mitnick yesterday here1 on APS (followed by some reading on my own) and today he's in the news.

http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2014/01/16/world-greatest-hacker-calls-healthcaregov-security-shameful/

I just have to wonder what will happen when the security breach happens is admitted to. (I'm betting many have already happened.)

1:
Reminds me of the hysteria prison guards had over Kevin Mitnick, when they believed he could whistle Captian Crunch/2600 tones at a open phone from across the room, and launch nuclear missiles.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Anybody else getting an error when trying to load that article?   Others work, just not the linked one . . .

Nevermind!  Now it's working.  It probably just took a while for NSA to record my IP, etc. . . . .

Why would anyone go to the trouble of hacking Obamacare for what, like 5 SSN's?

And all of those people with no assets  =D

“Nobody here at this table can tell you there is a vulnerability,” (Waylon Krush) said during testimony. To actually test the flaws would require hacking the website itself, which would mean breaking the law, he noted.

Because nobody would do something illegal . . . .

Mitnick is a very nice guy and all. But he's not the world's greatest hacker. Back in the day, he was good at some phone stuff (which has radically changed) and social engineering. Just an aside, he is a pretty good security guy.

And yes, it has vulnerabilities. They did a crap job on infrastructure. Generally, security is usually worse than a place's infrastructure. That should tell ya how bad I suspect it is.
"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

I have reached a conclusion regarding every member of this forum.
I no longer respect any of you. I hope the following offends you as much as this thread has offended me:
You are all awful people. I mean this *expletive deleted*ing seriously.
