Badass Lyle Bouck, WW2 recon. NSFW language, as usual.

One of the benefits of my job is that I get to decide what is or isn't NSFW language.

Awesome story, and good timing, as my son is studying WWII at school, and the Battle of the Bulge is the current topic.  This story (with slightly edited language) will be shared with him tonight.

That story is told in the book The Longest Winter by Alex Kershaw. The badass of the week in its typically over the top style really doesn't scratch the surface of that mess. The real fun was after they were captured, force marched, shuffled from camp to camp, nearly bombed by the allies, nearly froze, nearly starved, etc.

Dear Enemy Forces,

If you should choose to make a frontal assault of our positions, in the open, through deep snow, we will be more than happy to mow you down to the last man.

Sincerely,

BAMF of the Week should serve as merely the starting point to look into the history of that person/events.   Yes, sometimes they go way, way, way over the top.  Other times, what they write really doesn't do justice to those individuals.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Most of the guys who receive recognition as "bad asses" were not trying to be such. They just did what they thought was the right thing, and turned out to be heroes.
I am truly humbled by such men.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
I meet lots of folks like this, claim to be anarchist but really they're just liberals with pierced genitals. - gunsmith

I'll loan the book as long as I get it back if anyone wants the TLDR version. Really worked to stifle me whining about how cold I was or what a crappy day I had when I was reading it last winter.
