Making note of that for future, although they will probably be changing names again.

Perhaps not quite first shot.  One report suggests that the round blew before the bolt was seated or locked.

From last summer, but I never saw it here. Bolt blows out of a .50 BMG rifle, and clocks a guy in the neck.

Couple things.

First off, that's a different incident. There have been 3 or 4 Vulcan .50's blowing up incidents that have been publicized.

Second, the blogger you linked to is a moron. The way these work is that the entire bolt assembly is withdrawn from the gun, then the round slipped into the grooved channel that borders the bolt face, then reinserted and chambered. This means that if the firing pin was protruding, the round could not be slipped into place on the bolt face.

Nope they are made in the US.

There are pictures out there of a Vulcan AR lower that cracked in half after being used to fire about two rounds.

I thought AR lowers were supposed to be these low stress items that you could almost make out of cheesecake.

I know people claim that the AR lower is very low stress but it does take some stress. Recoil affects it (yes, 5.56 has recoil, even though for the shooter it is very light), plus you got the whole BCG slamming back into the reciever extension.

That said, I think the aluminum they were casting into AR lowers was very low low low quality (like think screen door quality) and such so their poorly cast pieces of *expletive deleted* that it broke apart on the second shot.

Harold, are you serious? If it is Todd Bailey Mfg, I wouldn't wish one of those guns on my worst enemy!

Toddy Bailey= Special Weapons=Cohaire=Top Notch=Bobcat

Both have about the same level of reputation. Though, Bobcat/SW was moreso shady than Kaboom.
