Otis MacDonald Was In Hospice, Now Has Passed
« on: March 27, 2014, 10:35:53 AM »
I regret to inform you that Otis McDonald is gravely ill and in hospice care. He is too weak for visitors. His family has requested prayers. Otis McDonald is truly an American Hero. If you wish to send Otis and his family cards, please send them to the ISRA office, and we will forward them on.

ISRA, PO Box 637, Chatsworth, IL  60921

Mr. McDonald is the man behind McDonald v Chicago.  We owe him a debt that can never be repaid.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

True.

For me, this is the iconic photograph, probably copyrighted, so I'm not ["IMG"]ing it.

Having met him on a couple of occasions, I can say that he is polite, kind, quiet, soft spoken man who does not regard himself as a "hero" or "leader".  He simply wanted to be able to protect himself in his home.

Which is the "perfect" definition of folks who come to be called heroes.

When I met him he was pretty much embarassed to be the object of so much attention.

In my dream the Illinois State Police issue him an honary concealed carry permit at his bedside.  (Yes, I know it's a dream.)

He was not at IGOLD this year.  But, then, a lot of people weren't.
In thy presence is fulness of joy.
At thy right hand pleasures for evermore.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".
