Do Mainstream Republicans Like Peter King?
« on: April 20, 2014, 12:19:10 PM »
I saw on Fox News that Peter King is thinking of running for President. I know it's early and things can change (and polls seem to indicate he doesn't have a chance), but does this guy actually have a following with establishment (or any) Republicans?

I don't like to throw around the word "hate", but I sincerely hate this guy. He sees terrorists behind every tree, and I truly believe that were he President, he would lead us down a totalitarian road, all in the name of "safety". I would honestly rather see Obama get a third term than to see Peter King get one.

Does he have some redeeming qualities that I've missed, or some fiscal ideas that I haven't heard of that might make the Wall Street Republicans like him?

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Yes

From the article and Graham Long is a Democrat that ran against him in 2008.
Quote
Long has sought to make political hay of King's vote for the $700 billion Wall Street bailout, even though it was backed by Democratic congressional leaders. King defends his vote as necessary for the financial health of New York and his district.

So, let me get this right. He loves spending money by the hundreds of billions, sees terrorists everywhere except for terrorists he actively supports, wants to lock up journalists who don't march lockstep with the government, etc. He apparently believes not only in gun control but in actively disarming the citizenry[1].

What a winner.

The lose-lose part is that if he doesn't run, he's looking like a front runner to chair the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (or whatever it's exactly called) since he had already chaired one of the Homeland Security Committees. I'm really not sure where he would do the most damage.
