Scored A New In Box Beretta 8045F
« on: April 18, 2014, 09:32:19 PM »
After being back at work full time for several weeks, I finally had the chance to rejoin my lonely 92FS with a worthy partner.  I found this NIB 8045F with two mags and the original accessories.  Someone had bought it and stored it, never even removing the tag the Italian factory pasted to the trigger guard.  The price? $479.00.   =D  I'm not too pleased about the garish PW Arms import stamp, but that's one small problem with an otherwise great find.

Captain Dathon approves!

Oh nice!  I have the gun in the Stoeger Cougar name in .40 S&W.  It's a nice gun.

Yeah, I had the 8040 many years ago and liked it. I was not opposed to buying a Stoeger, but at that price why not get the Beretta? I also already knew that similar specimens were going for $600-$800 on auction sites. This one must have been a consignment piece to be priced so low.

I love my 92FS, but being limited to ten rounds by my lords and masters in Connecticut, I figured I'd maximize my cartridge.

I also love to carry with my Maxpedition "Fatboy," but the 92 only fits in the main compartment, meaning I've still got to carry my accoutrements on my person. Smaller pistols fit in the carry sleeve (which is what the manufacturer intended) leaving room in the main compartment for my wallet, pipe, tobacco, and pipe cleaners.

I forgot to mention that when I disassembled the pistol to inspect it, I discovered that not only was it immaculate inside, but it was still properly lubed.  This would seem to indicate to me that the previous owner, while keeping it as a safe queen, was still maintaining it properly over the years.

Then I got a little misty over the idea that this pistol was cared for and appreciated by its previous owner for up to a decade before ending up back on the shelf.  I had to wonder what change in circumstances was responsible for it back on the shelf.  Then again, I have a flair for the melodramatic.
