Update on the house fire that killed baby
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:33:29 PM »
Found out the cause. They had chicks in a brooder box on porch . Heat lamp lit the pine shavings on fire   fire spread.
Not one of those typical causes

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

That is so very sad.  Does knowing the cause lighten the burden or provide some closure?  I truly would not know.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Was meant more as a caution to some here, moi included, who might be raising birds. I am truly paranoid and still things come up that could kill me and mine that I never imagined. I am so glad these folks have a real strong support network of family and friends. And the strength they get from their faith is indeed impressive.

I nixed the heat lamp inside way back when we got our two chicks.  New gosling does not get a heat lamp.

Under most situations a real regular mother earth raping incandescent 100 watt bulb is adequate. If not bring the fragile critters in the house for the night.

ex-sister in law lost their house to a space heater used to keep a couple of pet rabbits warm. Nobody hurt but the fire took a Corvette, a Mustang and a Triumph triple.

On a related note, the replacement Corvette was totaled yesterday when a texting driver ran a red light, no serious injuries.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Portable heat sources should be put on generally non-flammable surfaces.  Attach some tile to a concrete board, done.

I'd say that was a little too hot for chicks

They're supposed to be about 95* F.

Our neighbors had a rabbit hutch under their deck.  Enclosed it with Styrofoam and had an electric heater for the winter months.  Heater set it on fire and burned the whole house down.  Lucky for them it was early in the evening so they could escape.
