Motorcycle Bike Racks

Is this a new thing? I've never seen them before, but this week when I was fishing in Mammoth, they were all over the freakin' place:

"I'm a foolish old man that has been drawn into a wild goose chase by a harpy in trousers and a nincompoop."

I saw one at a group mtb ride here in Northern VA years ago.

Most of the ones I've seen over the years have been homebuilt or a Thule/Yakima channel mounted somehow, but have been a few companies making them like 2x2 or Johnny Rack. The problem is that just about every motorcycle is different and the numbers aren't there to support a market.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.
Is defenestration possible through the overton window?

I have long pondered this.  Several threads on this at ADVRider and some of the other motorcycle boards I visit.  I see them parked at the mountain bike trailheads.  The thing that is holding me back is I would have to lose my top case, and I use that everyday for commuting to/from the office, and it is a bit of a pain mounting and unmounting it.

You are one lousy risk manager.
