Just a small, brief, panic (thanks, kid!)
« on: June 07, 2014, 06:07:07 PM »
Headed into Wally World, I was asked by a small girl "Are you a policeman?"  I immediately flashed to a post in a thread on being made as CCW and assumed my gun was printing or had been exposed, neither at all likely.  Just before doing a clothing check, I thought to ask kiddo why she thought I might be a policeman.

It was my hat.

Phew!!
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

  I wear a hat like that one, and people ask dumb questions, but I would never expect to get that particular response.

Usually, it puts folks in mind of cowboys or Indiana Jones.

One other kid has asked if I am a cowboy, didn't provoke panic. :)

As people on here who have met me can attest, I rock the "retired police sergeant" vibe.  :P :P
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

And a propensity to mangle grammar and syntax -- such as using "affecting" where the correct word is "effecting."

Outside of Montana, I sometimes get asked if I am a "re-enactor"  ;/

They do reenactments of the Cretacous Age?  (And where can I go to participate?)

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.
