Pretty amazing story. I can't imagine any of what that guy did to get it happening today.
"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

"I see a rager at least once a week." - brimic

This would happen today:

"Oh, we cahn't have that ugly old thing in our beautiful city... why, it's a weapon of war !  Permit denied."

Nifty story.  I may actually buy 25 bucks worth of rivets.

WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

I have two loose connections to that aircraft.  The first was, during my college years (a looong time ago), I worked at a Radio Shack that was diagonally across the road from that gas station.  The station was active at that time, with the office directly under the belly of the B17.  That grand old lady was in rough shape even then, but still a magnificent sight.
Second, a few years later when I was with the Arizona Wing of the CAF, our group traded some restorative labor and faux parts with Art Lacey for some items that we needed to properly restore Sentimental Journey.
It's great to see that someone is trying to restore and preserve the old girl.

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
