Coffee by Caliber
« on: July 10, 2014, 12:22:20 AM »
Stumbled across this at Amazon just now. A coffee company that rates their coffee by caliber. I've never heard of them before and have no idea on how good the coffee is, but thought it was clever.

Actually, they have a website:

They might want to have a discussion with the person who writes their ad copy.

Described as "Velvety mouthfeel".

Yes, I know that for the connoisseur that term is both appropriate and highly descriptive.  But for the general public, with it's collective mind only barely at the top of the gutter?

And no, I had never before heard/read "hotter than a 3-peckered billy goat".  Kinda cute.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

I haven't heard that either, but I have heard "hornier than a three balled tomcat".

Less caffeine = Larger caliber? I think they have it wrong.

Dang, it's been decades since I heard the phrase "Hornier than a billy goat with two peckers."

So now it's three?  Inflation?

Darker roasts have less caffeine, as heat destroys the molecule. I'm not saying it works as a metaphor, but that's the rationale.

When I was a serious coffee hound I quickly settled on single estate beans.  Blends can make for more consistent, 'though rarely better, brews but more often just allow the blender to hide junk.  All I saw at Caliber was blends...
Gee, I'd love to see your data!
