This makes me go 'hmmmm' in a speculative yet approving way.

Brewbot
From £1,700.00
Brewbot uses sensor technology to track and automate the brewing process. Simply follow the instructions in the app, add the ingredients when prompted and, hey presto, you can call yourself a brewer.

Well, that in depth spec sheet answers all my questions.

Follow the program based off of automated sensors?  That is not brewing, that's being a lab slave to a piece of machinery.  Home brewing is part art, part science.  This contraption looks like it takes all the FUN out of the process.  No checking the change in specific gravity over time, no racking from primary to secondary fermentors, no sampling of the product from time to time judge how its progressing....

I think I'll stick to buckets, carboys, bubble traps and the like.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

It looks like it would brew good beer very cheaply.  (start with 2-row American pale malt, and use a lot of it plus whatever caramel malt floats your boat. Buy the pale malt in 50# bags)  But you would never recover the initial investment, plus it's so automated it takes all the fun out of brewing.

I would use a contraption like that if I designed and built it myself -- then the "art" would be the machine itself and the beer would be the payoff.  I would also use it if I could buy a used one for $100.  Since neither of those will ever happen, I will stick with spaghetti-cooker lauter tun, giant stockpot, homemade copper wort chiller, carboys, etc.
