Raw Footage - Capturing a Car Jacker / Home invader

I couldn't help but think, "Dewey Crowe" while watching this jackass. I also couldn't figure out the deal with the blonde girl that pops up once in each video.

Thinking about being that guy in the little pickup that stopped while he still had the rifle.  I think I would have had my pistol in my hand.

That video doesn't show the takedown by the motor patrol Officer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=mo6SppRnbeY

A longer video from Chopper4  (Copter4 ?) news tonight shows him entering a house from the front and a few seconds later backing out of the home's garage, crashing right through the garage door.  Plus he and the blonde chick wandering around Lookout Mountain, him with the rifle and handgun in hand.

I can't find the identity of the "civilian" in the green shirt who helped hold the Officer at this point.  In later interview with the 22-year veteran Officer, he said it was like nervousness before a game, which goes away as soon as the game starts, and then you just do your job.  (Not a direct quote.)

Actually the second video at my link showed the takedown. :)

Did not see your second video.  Did you edit in later?

No, if you scroll down at the guns.com link, there are two videos - part 1 and part 2.

Interesting.  Was this guy impaired in some way?

He approached multiple vehicles.  He left the door open on each, until he found a drivable one.  That just strikes me as odd.

Then he takes off, up a dirt road until he drives off the end of it and gets stuck.

I figured he was just looking for vehicles with keys in them. Of course with the last vehicle, he found the keys, but not the garage door opener.

It sure does point out that no matter how rural and crime free you think you are, you can't keep idiots from wandering into your living space. No matter how crime free of a place I ever lived, I'd never leave the keys in the car.

I've left keys in cars before because I lived in the middle of nowhere.  When I realized that while isolation means that people are unlikely to stumble upon your spot, it also provides the bad guy time to check things out, I stopped doing that.

That guy sure changed his attitude the very first time somebody pointed a pistol back at him didn't he?

^"That guy sure changed his attitude the very first time somebody pointed a pistol back at him didn't he?"

"It takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun."

(Actually, I think Jeff Cooper said that first, not Wayne La Pierre, but who's counting?  La Pierre made it well-known.)
