"Smart Pistol" Firm Now Marketing to LE
« on: August 11, 2014, 10:49:44 PM »
The German "smart pistol" firm with the pistol that took so much (justified) flack on the civilian market is now developing a 9MM version for law enforcement sales. I'll be watching this with interest. I don't believe any law enforcement agency will adopt this pistol operationally.  I wouldn't be surprised if some liberal big city departments buy a small quantity to promote a PR agenda (such as the company's, "If it's good for LE, it's good for civilians" agenda), but I bet their field officers will not be carrying them.

Good. Anything the elite want to foist on us, they should try with the cops, first. Next up, magazine-capacity limits.

I hope LE tries it and finds it wholly inadequate

I have reached a conclusion regarding every member of this forum.
I no longer respect any of you. I hope the following offends you as much as this thread has offended me:
You are all awful people. I mean this *expletive deleted*ing seriously.

In a related story, underground development of "smart gun jammers" skyrockets...

I wouldn't be terribly upset if Congress mandated exclusive use of these by the FBI, DEA, TSA, BATF, and every other armed Federal agency, especially the executive protection detail of the Secret Service . . .

Respectfully, I disagree.

Let the police refuse it out of hand as "unsafe and unproven" in field trials.  Then the rest of us can climb on the "If it's not good enough for the police" bandwagon without having millions of tax dollars wasted before the police reject the thing.

Hopefully there are better things on which to waste millions of tax dollars

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

That would be the expected and desired result, yes.

But if instituted and mandated across the board for govt. employees, I would expect great numbers of failures . . . failures that could not be covered up in limited field trials.

This would likely discredit "smart gun" ideas for decades.
