I'd never heard of this before. Project Washtub was an FBI project to train "left behind" spies in case of a Russian invasion of Alaska. I wonder what happened to all the caches?

"The FBI tapped its local contacts, including federal judges, the head of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Anchorage, an Anchorage physician and others for names of reliable Alaskans to be approached."

That seems kinda dumb.  Wouldn't the Soviets have gone after them first?  Seems to me they'd automatically be on the Soviets' "Watch List."

WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

Fed judges, definitely.  Top possum cop might be seen as potentially useful, (in-depth knowledge of terrain and potential hiding places, and has minions with similar knowledge and skills that would be expected to follow his lead) but low-level enough to root for the winning team either way.  Doctors are definitely too valuable to ignore in a remote area.

It says they used them as referrals for who to approach. Not that they used the men in the black dresses

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Reminds me of the 'stay-behind' plans and personnel that NATO made in case of a Soviet invasion of Western Europe.
