My Galaxy S3 randomly drops wifi. I think I've traced it to a WEP authorization issue I will correc tomorrow when the new wifi card for my desktop gets here. (Old card only supported WEP so that's how I configured the router.)

In case that doesn't correct the problem has anyone else had issues with their Galaxy suffering random wifi connection outages?

Does it reconnect automatically? My Note 2 will randomly drop off, then reconnect. Same generation Samsung, likely similar wifi chip. I know its not my router. Its been 100% stable with everything else I've ever connected to it.

Yep. Drops, then reconnects a few seconds later.

That was easy enough. New card slotted in, driver installed, and everything swap over to WPA2.  If nothing else it's improved speed a little.  My desktop regularly tested at 12-13 MBPS.  Now its hitting 16.5.  Phone (using the SpeedTest app) would test at 14-15.  Now it's hitting 18 consistently.  Had a bit of a time figuring out the Xbox. Finally realized it stores the encryption type with the connection and won't change it on the fly. Deleted the connection, rescanned for wifi, entered the password, and it popped right up.

Now, to wait...

Mine doesn't drop wifi, but it will occasionally forget that it's got a messenger app, and it will simply fail to send. I have to turn on Airplane Mode for a few seconds, then turn it off, and all is right with the world again.

Update. Drops seem to be a thing of the past, and speed and ping time improvements seem to have become the norm. Not bad for $15.
