At least he wasn't a burden to the criminal justice system....
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

Two objections: The article really ought to have been titled: "Florida man, suspected burglar, hides in lake where gator eats him"

Secondly, I strongly object to the death penalty being used in this instance. That gator provided a public service and they go and kill him for it!
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Incidentally:

Quote
Authorities said Riggins drowned and the alligator, which behaved aggressively toward divers, was trapped and euthanized.

Maybe I'm not up on alligator behavior, but isn't that how they generally act to creatures they can eat?

Did they expect it to come out for a pat on the head?

On one had, I agree. It's really not fair to kill an animal because it's being itself.

On the other hand, it's an 11 foot gator and Florida isn't exactly short on the beasties. I'm betting that they authorities just didn't want an 11 foot gator floating around where it could munch on someone who wasn't all criminal and whatnot.

But didn't they have to recover the body parts for a "proper burial?"
WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.
