Some of these images and the tools they portray are in the 'better than nothing' category, but some of them are fairly useless.

You see, women just naturally do not think in an aggressive way, so the idea of having an actual weapon that could actually hurt/kill an attacker just never occurs to them.  (I learned that from reading all the SJW/progressive crap cited around this place.)

I forwarded this to a shooting/self-defense instructor known affectionately as 3-gun Kim* and asked what she thought.  All I could make out was the sound of her banging her head on the desk.

I have mixed feelings.  The young women have realized that they are responsible for their safety in a world that isn't as safe as they once thought.*  This is a good step.  They have thought ahead to make a plan for what they might do. This is a good step.  I am heartened to see anyone, but especially young women take the step to think about their safety and make some kind of plan. 

But.....

They are still so indoctrinated (and/or shackled by stupid laws) that not one of them can enact a good plan.  This depresses me.


*Yes, I know that the actual sexual assault on campus problem has been exagerated by the liberals to make a point, and the 1 in 5 number that article quotes is quite a bit off.  I actually think we should use the liberals own lies against them.  "You don't want CCW on campus?  You must rape coeds a lot."

Yeah, there is a reason I carry such a huge set of keys. Old habits. As has been said, better than nothing. If there isn't going to be guns on campus, than teaching improvised weaponry isn't a bad idea.
Too be honest, I'm just happy to see these girls willing to fight an attacker. With the way things are going, that's a huge step in the right direction. which is really sad to say, but it's the truth.

Years ago, when I taught Judo and karate for college PE credit and as an extra-curricular activity, I was frequently criticised for teaching women because of what I was enabling them to do to "their boyfriends."

All I could do was say, "So the 'boyfriends' shouldn't do anything to precipitate such action." I did get some lovely stories back from girls who had to "correct" the behavior of non-boyfriends.

The article mentioned self defense weapons.  I didn't see any self defense weapons.  I feel cheated.

The keys-thing can work, but only if it's a huge set of keys, and it's on some sort of a lanyard or a kutobon/handle that makes it a decent flail.

The between the fingers/improvised brass knuckles thing is useless. A woman fast enough and strong enough, and with enough grip strength to have the keys hurt the attacker more than they hurt her hand, to actually employ that effectively doesn't need the keys between her fingers in the first place.

Even if you're a ranked MMA fighter, male or female, ANY ranged weapon, or even one that extends your reach is much much better.

*heh* this reminded me of when I was helping my old sensei teach girls self-defense at his daughter's high school....   There was one gal who was *really* good, so good that the instructor wanted us to do a demo for the rest of the class.  We talked about it, and I *thought* she understood that, being a demo, we were gonna pull impacts...   

Yeah.... Right....

So the scenario was that I was supposed to grab her from behind like I was gonna try to shove her in a car....   So I throw her in a bear hug, and next thing I know I'm barely dodging the instep stomp she delivered...  That would probably have broken a bone...   Just about this time I'm realizing that she didn't get what I meant by "pull impacts"....   Yeah, just about the time that her elbow was connecting with my cheekbone....   Which distracted me enough that I didn't see that downward fist heading straight for my cojones.....

For some reason, the next session he had a record number of kids sign up for the class.......
