Ireland votes to approve gay marriage
« on: May 23, 2015, 10:02:27 AM »
http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/23/europe/ireland-referendum-same-sex-marriage/index.html

Ireland would have been high on my list of places that I would thought of as being against gay marriage.  The Church's influence must really be waning there.

I am surprised. I was sure the vote would go pretty heavily "No."

Waiting for the final tally to be announced.  [popcorn]

Just spitballing, but I have a feeling that the draw of big corporate high finance in the recovery of The Irish Spring may be part of the Yes Vote victory.

stay safe.

No.  Just that capital flows to places where the people in charge of the place take less of it.  And companies that send their money to those places do not like being thought of as repressive.  And that companies with significant capital can and do influence a lot of things once thought of as being the realm of the family and/or the church.

Based on the lines waiting for the polls to open and the samplings made of those waiting to vote the Vote No folks pretty much conceded they were going to lose unless there was a major miracle.

stay safe.

'Cuz if government recognizes your relationship as a marriage, you have more liberty?  ???

I hope this spreads.  Equal rights for gay people all around,  I'm happy for them.

Then they can go the hell away as a victim group.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

You mean like every other special group of folks do when they get "equal" status?

Good luck with that. They don't want equal status, they want special status.
