Entitled
« on: June 10, 2015, 06:34:27 PM »
I don't know when this started, but folks (here and elsewhere) have begun using the word "entitled," to mean that someone feels entitled to something they don't really deserve. The word actually means that someone is entitled to that thing.

So unless you're trying to say that your favorite social justice warrior or welfare leach really is entitled to whatever they want - don't call them entitled.

Does that apply to folks who feel entitled to dictate how other communicate?

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I haven't noticed that anyone is misusing "entitled." We do, however, speak of the "entitlement mentality" to describe those people who think (or feel) that they are entitled to something to which they have no right.

Doesn't appear that Merriam-Webster has screwed up the definition (yet): http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/entitled

There are many things that the FSA is entitled to but they seem to not want those things.

That attitude oppresses the workers - especially those laboring in the steel-capped toe boot sweatshops.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.
