AMAC?
« on: June 28, 2015, 05:44:53 PM »
Has anyone ever heard of AMAC (Association of Mature American Citizens)? They portray themselves as "The Conservative Alternative to AARP." They claim to have one and a quarter million members, yet I had never heard of them until I received a "free trial" membership card in the mail awhile ago.

I had never heard of them. Any feedback from anywhere?

AMAC advertises a fair amount on various conservative radio programs.  They claim to be the conservative counterweight to AARP.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Yep, it's been mentioned here before.  I'm not sure how much "weight" they have to throw around at this point, but I'm about to join them just as a poke in the eye to AARP, if for nothing else.  Plus, one more member helps build them up.

Is there a test to prove that you are "mature" enough  ???
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

That's the only place I've heard of them.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I'll be 59 in October, making me too young for those outfits.

Stupid AARP starts telling you you're old on your 50th.

Hey, work with me here!  I'm too young to be joining these groups.
Once I need to start using a walker to get to the head and take a pee, then I will be old enough.

KFC gave my wife a senior discount the other day when she went there with her Dad.  She wasn't sure if it was because she qualified, or if it was because she just happened to be with her Dad and was mistaken for his wife.
