The smallness of the world
« on: July 05, 2015, 10:24:47 AM »
Okay so some friends of ours invited us to hang out for a few days with them.  At the same time, a very loose family reunion was going on for their family.  Basically they rent about 5-6 houses on Bolivar peninsula and gather at one house in particular.  We stayed on a canal home and fished off the dock and had a good time.
One of the canal homes had our friend's uncle, Mike staying in it with his wife.  He's a retired Marine and we chatted some.  He retired to the same town where I met my wife and I was last stationed.
Anyway, there was another couple there as well with Mike and his wife.
My wife kept trying to tell me she knew the two ladies but couldn't think of from where.
They put two and two together.  Both of the ladies had been her high school guidance counselors.
Sometimes it is truly a small world.

So, was crow served and eaten?

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.

I think what he was getting at was if your wife lived up to or exceeded the guidance counselors expectations/predictions.

When I was in high school our guidance counselor was a crusty old fart that had been a teacher at the small country school when my dad was in high school. One summer while home on leave the family had gathered at dad's house and the conversation brought up old teachers. My sister opined that she didn't like the guidance counselor because he had told her he didn't think she had what it took to go to junior college. I replied that she had certainly proven him wrong because she had been going to junior college for 10 years. (which she had). One of my uncles nearly choked to death laughing. My sister didn't speak to me the rest of the time I was home on leave.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Ah copy that.
Not sure if that actually came up or not.
