I like Perry* but he just doesn't have "it".  He had no hope of being a contender this go around and it's good he's dropping out.

*Like him, but not enough for him to be "my guy".  I'm still a Cruz or Paul booster.

But what has this to do with Trump? Can we please make this about Trump?

Of course. It was the delayed neurotoxic effect of Perry being Bush-y "illegal immigration is an act of love".

I wouldn't mind him as my next door neighbor, met him the last presidential go around, nice guy just don't see him as a president.

I think he would have been fine, but for crowing about the second coming of GWB or LBJ or both.

Cruz had my support on revising the military arming policy, but lost me on marijuana.  I'll never touch the stuff as long as an NCO has to watch me pee into a cup, but legalize the damn shtuff already.  Paul is my first choice now.

Paul isn't doing as well as I had hoped, both in polling and practice. I still like home but he's not living up to what I was hoping for.

I'm ok with Cruz but there's just something about him that puts me off every time I see him.

Paul has spent a lot of time attacking Trump.  It hasn't helped him.  I can't think of any R candidate that has benefited by attacking Trump.

I have heard tha Cruz has been trying to position himself as #2 behind Trump so he can take the lead when/if Trump decides to drop out.

I just saw Cruz speak this morning, at a hotel down the street from me. The only remarks about Trump were from a couple of people in the audience (and I couldn't tell if they was fur or agin 'im). The only other candidate I think he did mention by name was Jeb Bush (to a chorus of boos  ).

Perry candidacy was doomed by his failure to name the three departments he would eliminate.  That left a permanent mark that he could never recover from.  That and a very crowded field with some pretty good candidates.

I expect to see quite a few more drop soon (Kaisch, Paul, Christie, Rubio, Huckabee, Jindal, Graham, Pataki, Gilmore) as the others begin to pull away from the pack.

He didn't seem to be campaigning very strongly anyway- seemed like he didn't really WANT it bad enough to win the nomination, much less the presidency.

Damn shame, because he would be a decent candidate. Not perfect by any means, but a hell of a lot better than the likes of Jeb Bush)
