NC Members: Rifle match
« on: September 10, 2015, 09:07:53 PM »
I know we have a couple of members in NC, sorry I can't remember who you are offhand.

This is happening Saturday:

http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=390712

This is a "fun match" (though taken very seriously by some participants!) consisting of shooting eight 8x13 steel plates over open sights or optics at 200 yds. Looks like there will be a Garand side match this go-around. There is also a team event, and a 300 yard "Sniper" event at the end of the day.

The wife and I are planning on attending. This is a quarterly event, so if you can't make it this time, check the CRPC calendar and try again. Definitely worth the price of admission, and plenty of gun geekery to go around, especially if you like FALs.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

"Optics will not be allowed for the Sniper stage."

Whaaa?
Local club had a 'vintage sniper' class as part of our monthly short range 200 yard f-class matches. There were a couple of guys who had mosin, svt-40, k98 snipers, but they just couldn't run with my M41b for accuracy. I kind of killed all of the joy in that class shooting that rifle (see avatar)  >:D

Think of it as a Simo Häyhä style sniper stage.

I have seen guys knock down a lot of targets successfully at that range...not me though.

You misspelled Salma Hayek.  Didn't know she was a shooter.   >:D
