I had forgotten how much fun...
« on: September 11, 2014, 04:43:07 PM »
it isn't to unstick a 4x4 tractor using a come-along.  Prob'ly 30 years or more.  I imagine I will suffer the torments of the old, fat, and out of shape tomorrow.

It's more fun if you go get a bigger tractor to pull out the first one, and then get that one stuck too  =D

Or get the hugely bigger tractor to unstick the stuck and pull the stuck in two instead.
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

I'd forgotten how much fun it isn't to work under a vehicle (in this case, Kubota BX2230)

Two identical inline fuel filters, one between the tank and the pump, requiring the detachment and removal of the mower deck.  Diesel fuel in the beard.  Sore as hell the next day.  Still didn't cure the problem, which turned out to be an interlock switch under the seat.  At least THAT was cheap and easy.

If it was that cheap and easy, why didn't you fix that first?

Because I'm too damned dumb to pound sand.

The problem the Director reported fit the symptomology of bad fuel/dirty filter.  Went thru the cursing/sweating/bleeding evolution, and the BX crunk and ran right well.  With the Director in the seat (weighing in at about .4 of what I do) she put the HSD in low, and it sounded as if she had turned off the engine.  Got down to about stall RPM, kicked it back to neutral, and it roared back to life.  Turned it off, I hopped on it, crunk it, and got it to stagger back into the barn.

Further research suggested that the deadman switch that detects weight on the seat was failing.  Replaced that bit, and the li'l tractor runs the best it ever has.
