Mine came in the other day. No suspension included, so keep that in mind when factoring the price. Tarp is still in the mail.

All in all the hammock itself appears reasonably solid. I'm considering it an introduction/lounging/cheap start to upgrade later if I like it thing.

I've just been using ropes with loops knotted along the length for adjustment. I'll possibly get suspension straps for camping, but the freakin' straps seem to cost as much as the hammock.

I have a $3 solution I have yet to try, so I can't speak to its viability, but I grabbed a pair of cargo tie-down straps rated at 330#s from Harbor Freight.

At 12' each, should be able to use them on a wide variety of tree widths and distances apart.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

well when the hammock is only 20 bucks, yes they do cost about the same as the hammock

Cabelas has straps that are pretty simple for 20 bucks. Toss in a couple carabiners or preferred devise and not to bad.

Did your hammock not come with carabiners?

I need to dig around the store room - I think I may have some old tie down straps that have "loops" sewn in the length of the strap.

I got the V2 Ultralight camo off woot, it came with only the hammock in its attached stuff sack.

Interesting.

Same model? When I looked it up on google it appeared to be normal for it to come with nothing but the hammock

Not sure. My model number is in the OP if you want to compare. The description on Amazon calls them "quick links" but they look just like carabiners to me.

re straps: lots of straps stretch.  If you want an off the shelf solution, the ENO Atlas Straps are hard to beat.
re carabiners: The ones that come with hammocks are crap and will bend on folks above 200lbs even when rated to well above that.  Get some real climbing rated ones.  They're not expensive.

There's about four of them as lightning deals this morning. One is the Yukon Outfitters now going for the Woot price (and is fulfilled by Woot) for twenty ducats but with Prime delivery.

The carabiners on my Warbonnet hammock are perfectly functional.  I use ENO Atlas tree straps, I'd stay away from straps that weren't designed as tree straps.

So tarp came in yesterday, no idea why it took longer.

Still yukon outfitters, but came with both lines and stakes. Poking around online it looks to be normal for the tarp to come with the lines and the hammock to come with just the hammock.

Ah well, Atlas straps aren't to terribly expensive. Still talking a tarp, hammock, and straps for under a hundred bucks. Not to bad a price to check it out and see how I like the idea.

I was starting to like backpacking less and less because I couldn't get any decent sleep in the woods.  Laying on my left side would aggravate an old injury.  Laying on my side at all would result in my hamstrings getting painfully tight.  My first night in a hammock was an eye opener.  I slept the whole night thru and laying on my back kept my hamstrings stretched out and loose.  Now I can't wait to get out into the woods.

Thanks for the link dm1333 - good info!

Lupinus, what do you think of the quality of the fly? Mine doesn't get here till tomorrow. From what I read, I think it's cut to fit the length of the hammock for attaching two of the sides at the hammock ends and then staking two for a diamond configuration?

Haven't had a chance to play with it as yet, only had a second to satisfy my curiosity and figure out if it came with hardware or not

I had a chance to setup the Yukon Outfitters fly today. Only a quick backyard evaluation, but from the backyard, I currently give it 3.5 out of 5. It's a compact package when packed and well made. The stakes though are crap that are going in the garbage. No big deal, as I have plenty of other stakes handy. Guy lines are okay. They'll probably need to be replaced after some use, but again, no big deal - if one breaks in the field, I always have paracord with me. These two items lose it the 0.5 stars.

The 1 star loss comes from the size. I would really like to see an extra foot of material on all sides. The current size is just fine as a sunshade and heat reflector, and will likely work fine in light showers, drizzle, etc. However in a good windy rain, it looks like it's way too easy for water to get through if you have the fly setup with any overhead space above the hammock. If you bring the apex down low and bring the sides in, I think you can be well protected, but you really need to line things up just right. If it were just a little bigger, you could set it up a little higher and have more leeway in setup (especially for areas sparse in tie-downs), which would also allow for more moving around room outside of the hammock for making coffee and whatnot if you're rained in during the day.

Anyway, my two cents after a quick setup. We're supposed to get a good rain here next tue-wed, so maybe I'll set it up beforehand and see what it does in a downpour. I  could be completely wrong in my fears.
