Cool.  Where are these?
In the 1980s my parents lived in Scotland  for 3 years.   When I visited them we got to visit a lot of castles ---- some of them in about as good shape as what's in your photos.

How old ARE these ruins?

I could be wrong - I'm far, FAR from being a castle expert - but somehow, they don't look THAT old. (Particularly the tower in the last picture.)

Hey, it doesn't have to be old to be ruined.
Good catch.
This was at Ha Ha Tanka, a little state park in Missouri. A wealthy Kansas City businessman imported Scottish stone masons to build his castle in 1908. In 1909 he was killed as the first automobile fatality in the state of MO. The castle was eventually finished and his sons ran it as a lodge/resort but a new years eve chimney fire caught the shake shingle roof afire and it was never rebuilt.
the last pic is the water tower. The castle is up on a high bluff and apparently they didn't have and couldn't get enough water.

The tower was damaged only by age and neglect, never fire, and was refurbed a few years ago.
I entered these in a small architectural theme photo contest and won a 1st with the arches and placed with the interior shot. Honorable mention on the tower.

Tactical error. :)

I liked that one of the tower.  I was wondering why it was apparently standing off by itself, so thanks for the explanation.

Well, they're all nice, especially the arches.  Generally I dislike "pattern shots," but that wasn't overdone.

Reminded me of the ruins of a "castle" (actually a residence of one of the Vanderbilts, I think) that my father and I used to prowl around in on Long Island.

ETA:  Glad you won on those arch shots. I was typing while you posted.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Somewhat related--apparently Turkey is chock full of Greek, Roman, and Crusader-era ruins that have never been properly excavated or researched, and often occupying the same or adjacent sites.

Lots of European castles are built one of top of older ruins, on top of Roman ruins, on top of Celtic (et al) ruins.

As soon as they get some time off the jihadi's will dig them up so they can destroy what's left....it has been going on for centuries- Bamiyan and Palmyra are but modern examples.
There are accounts by the early archaeologists in the middle east of the Arabs smashing up the marble sculptures they found and burning them to extract lime for cement.  The first hand accounts of the work force they hired are interesting!

That water tower is fantastic.  I want a water watch tower like that.
