I remember back in 2009, people commented on the Obama team having no experience with govt/mil security concerns or procedures. They were apparently unwilling to learn.
But Ms. Rodham Clinton spent eight years as wife of the president. Is this an indication that the William Jefferson Clinton administration also played fast and loose with national security matters? In other words, this really wasn't her first rodeo. She certainly wasn't in any position to have any need to know about any security issues as first lady, but she was in the Senate before being named Secretary of State. This "lapse" is not explained away as easily as "We had no prior experience, I didn't know any better." She very definitely knew better, and she went ahead and did it anyway because being able to operate outside of any supervision or exposure to FOI laws was more important to her that national security.
See Ben's post (above, March 16) linking to an article revealing that during her time as Secretary of State Hillary attempted to get authorization not only for herself but also for several of her key staff to use non-secure Blackberries within some extremely high-security area. The request was denied, as it should have been, but the fact she would even try is an indication of her real priorities -- to operate outside of all oversight.
