Sailing today
« on: February 27, 2016, 10:31:07 PM »
Had my first exciting sail of the season today.
20 kts+ wind with a few gusts over 25. I hit boat speeds of 7kts by GPS.

Some friends took a few pics of my boat for me. Cell phone pics but I appreciate any pics of my boat under sail I can get.

I was kind of playing tag with the other boat. Early on I had met up with him and passed port to port. I tacked in behind him and walked him down. Before I could put him full astern he tacked away. I followed and walked him down again. Third time around I had the shackle on my mainsheet fail and lost control of the mainsail, my sailing was over for the day.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
