Really compelling article on the recent defeat of the Georgia bill aimed at protecting pastors from being forced to perform ersatz "weddings." Do read the whole thing. It's a refreshing breath for one used to the bastardized American "christianity" that places non Biblical political and economic beliefs above Scripture.

Dreher I believe is also the one who formed the Law of Merited Impossibility: "It’s not going to happen, and when it does, you bigots are going to deserve it."

You have to understand that there is no religious liberty that will be respected by LGBT activists and their Big Business allies — and the Republican Party is a fair-weather friend.

That's not quite accurate.  The religious liberty of Muslims is respected -- because of the implied (for now) threat of violence if Islam is encroached upon.  When have you heard of a Muslim baker or photographer or clergy being coerced into participating in a gay ceremony?

Curiously (or not), in all of the Republican opinion polls I've received over the past few months, ALL have asked either about allowing abortions or about funding Planned Parenthood (usually both), but NONE have asked if people should be allowed to decline to perform same-sex "marriages" against their religious beliefs.

I wonder how many of those corporations will actually follow through with threats to move or avoid certain areas due to these laws.  I bet most are just making noise and won't change a thing in the long run.

Blustering is costless and placates a vocal and active demographic.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
