Wireless Doorbells?
« on: April 15, 2016, 03:46:37 PM »
Anyone have any wireless doorbell recommendations? I have an older style that was wired into the house circuit to use the wired ringer and then ring to the main bell downstairs, and a remote plugged into the wall upstairs.

That one is biting the dust and I'd like to just go to a new wireless set and mount a new ringer at the front door and then have two wireless receivers. I'm seeing a ton of options at Amazon and Lowes. Just wondering if anyone has one that they like. Networked for video / phone access is not required, but I'd be interested in thoughts if anyone has one of those.

A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.
Is defenestration possible through the overton window?

Mine too. Unfortunately at 14, she's also deaf as a post and routinely lays at the front door and sleeps through UPS deliveries. :)

I am confused as to why a doorbell is necessary. Just by having a working one you are telling people, please feel free to interrupt me because whatever you are shilling must be more important than what I am doing. The UPS guy doesn't even use ours, he just honks his horn a couple of times when he pulls up. If I am expecting company the door is open and they know to knock and come in. Everyone else can piss up a rope. ;)   :old:

I think I have hit geezerdom.

I have a wireless doorbell at the front door. I can't recommend the concept. The push button sender at the door uses a battery, and it eats batteries.

Got this one from Amazon a while back. Also found the same thing at a similar price at Lowes,

Wound up buying 2 more and spreading the chimes around the house.  They have NOT been eating batteries like candy, they easily sync to the same pushbutton, and they can be moved to where I am if I'm expecting something.  Playing in the back yard? Take one of the chimes out there with me.

I'm more than happy with them.

I bought a cheap one at Lowes and it worked for years just fine. Battery life was fine. Sound was loud enough without being too loud and there are enough frequency choices that the chances of a neighbor having the same frequency is slim or at least easy enough to remedy.
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

Sounds like you could have fun with a wireless doorbell. >:D

They have these in the all the doors of Mom's retirement community.   They are loud as hell...

Or you could just buy new guts (transformer and the like) of your existing system, with two remote ringers....

I think I would like this. Mine is 4 pawed but very alert to everything. I work nights and she seems to work days..
