Can't find party noisemakers
« on: April 29, 2016, 08:44:36 PM »
I'll be teaching preschoolers this Sunday about the Battle of Jericho.  So I wanted to reenact it, with them marching around a little tower of blocks, then blowing their trumpets and knocking it down.  Seems simple enough to buy those little party favors where you blow them and the unroll and make noise.  Except they don't make noise anymore!  Is nothing sacred?  I understand that moms are buying them for kids' birthday parties, and the noise is obnoxious.  So why not have both kinds, noisy and silent?

I checked the dollar store, Walmart, and Toys Я Us, and they all sell the same thing, just at vastly different prices.  (they also didn't have kazoos)

Now I gotta figure out a Plan B.    If it was just about the noise I'd be tempted to bring firecrackers >:D but it's supposed to be ram's horns.

Is there a Party City or similar party supply store near you?
Islamic sex dolls.  Do they blow themselves up?

These would work great if you had more time. But they're preschoolers. Some empty paper towel tubes or any other similar would work. We called them "du-ta-doos" when my kids were small.

Yeah party city. They should have them, least they did last time we were setting up a kids bday party

Just feed 'em a *expletive deleted*it load of beans the day before.

Their mom (step-grandma, actually) would kill me if I gave 'em those.  Might be worth it  >:D  I'll have to find a reason to use them for a different lesson.

I thought of that, but I couldn't find those either (didn't look all that hard)  There is a Party City in town, so I will check it out after lunch.

Those would be perfect for the enactment.  Do you want historical accuracy or h  appy parents.  (and when then lesson is complete, send them home with the trumpet, an espresso and a puppy !!  You'll never be asked to teach again !!!  =D =D =D)

I will be glad to come to  your party, and make noise. I require only first-class air-fare both ways, plus a $500 per diem.  =)

That had some of those trumpets at Party City.  Didn't look like something that a preschooler could use.  I may order one from Amazon next time I order stuff.

PC had just what I was looking for.  A big bag of horns (24 of 'em) for about $4.  I only need about 3, but I will figure out something obnoxious to do with the rest (like give them out to the other sunday school classes)
