Zero to FUBAR in under 3 seconds

An object lesson in how quickly a situation can go sideways:

Police officer questions man in pickup truck, who opens fire on him.  Body armor saves officer's life.

Quote
Cook was finally stopped in Kentucky.

This time, when he fired at officers, they shot back and killed him.

A satisfactory outcome.  "Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back."

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.
