Sure sign that this actually might be true -- Amazon is down on both seaboards right now. I can get to the site, but not to my cloud drive. The end is nigh!!

I noticed the sun was
remarkably red yesterday (29 July) about 7AM on my way to the supermarket. And
weirdly large. I attributed it to smoke from fires and the moon illusion, but it was really spooky. Hey, I mean red and I mean big and I mean spooky. My first thought actually was, "Crap, is the damn thing going Red Giant on us already?"
So it's 2AM 30 July now, and not much in terms of "signs and portents" has happened, except I had a negative encounter with one of my whacko neighbors (which I do not want to discuss here.)

REFs ( 1. Extracted smoke report):
Areas of haze and smoke are expected across northern and eastern parts of Colorado for Friday through Sunday, including the Front Range region. This is due to northwesterly winds aloft transporting in smoke from the Beaver Creek fire and other wildfires burning across the western United States. This smoke will be most evident during the morning hours, then decrease during the afternoons as atmospheric mixing increases.

( 2. The Moon Illusion):
The explanation of this illusion is still debated.

Note there is a "Sun Illusion," too, but it's difficult to notice normally because of the sun's glare. With its brilliance filtered by haze or clouds, it's more likely to be noticed.
