Please wear your seat belt when flying.

Did you hear about the airline flight that hit severe turbulence over South Dakota?  About 20 people went to the hospital for treatment and I bet whoever's head did this was in that group.

That is the ceiling panel in the aft galley.  Someone smacked it pretty hard.  There is also a photo on the internet of a toilet that was broken off its mounts from that same incident.

Is there a seat belt on the toilet?

No.  No one would wear it anyway because it would be nasty.

Though it could be helpful on chili bean Tuesday.

Maybe that's why the toilet was broken off it's mounts.

is that ceiling panel over seats or over a walk way?  It doesn't look like what I have seen typically over seating.

That one is in the galley, so it is over a place where passengers would stand.  I'm just using that photo to illustrate what can happen in turbulence.

Saw a photo of a female flight attendant being wheeled off that plane with a neck brace in place. Your photo seems to be in the galley area, so my vote goes to the unfortunate flight attendant. ( hope Southwest doesn't dock her pay to repair the damage she did to their ceiling.

I learned that lesson many years ago when that Aloha Airlines flight ejected a couple of people (including a stewardess flight attendant) over the Pacific when it became a convertible.....

Iirc the FA went through the engine on that one.  And as no mechanic would work on it the took it off the plane and buried it.  Or so legend has it.

First time I've heard that one.  It isn't correct, though.

Noticed this bit:
During an interview, passenger Gayle Yamamoto told investigators that she noticed a crack in the fuselage upon boarding the aircraft prior to the ill-fated flight, but did not notify anyone

On the one hand, I bet she wishes she said something.  On the other hand, how vilified would she have been if she did and it turned out to be nothing.  We always say "be observant" or "see something, say something", but when someone does and it's a false alarm, they're ridiculed.  =|

She wouldn't have been vilified.  I have had plenty of passengers tell/ask about some perceived defect in the plane that turned out to be nothing.  Never once have I made fun of them.  But there is a difference between asking the crew if that crack should be there and screaming bloody murder, and posting it to faceboom, because that crack is there.  I don't make fun of the people with legitimate concerns.  I do mock those that look for problems in everything.

I was speaking more about armchair experts and the general public than folks like you and your crew.  It's that sort of response from the chattering class that makes people reluctant to speak up at all.

It was a JetBlue flight.

Gotcha.  You're right; fear of being wrong/ridiculed keeps people quiet.
