Quote
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Los Angeles City Council member is expected to submit an emergency motion Friday to stop the sale of spice, a synthetic form of marijuana that has resulted in dozens of overdoses among the homeless community.

No word on whether the stuff turns one's eyes blue, or enables one to navigate a starship.

"He who controls the synthetic marijuana controls the universe!"

This stuff isn't already illegal?

Doesn't look like it.

Synthetic cannabinoids are included in a group of drugs called "new psychoactive substances" (NPS). NPS are unregulated psychoactive (mind-altering) substances that have become newly available on the market and are intended to copy the effects of illegal drugs. Some of these substances may have been around for years but have reentered the market in altered chemical forms or due to renewed popularity.

Manufacturers sell these herbal incense products in colorful foil packages and sell similar liquid incense products, like other e-cigarette fluids, in plastic bottles. They market these products under a wide variety of specific brand names; in past years, K2 and Spice were common. Hundreds of other brand names now exist, such as Joker, Black Mamba, Kush, and Kronic.

For several years, synthetic cannabinoid mixtures have been easy to buy in drug paraphernalia shops, novelty stores, gas stations, and through the Internet. Because the chemicals used in them have a high potential for abuse and no medical benefit, authorities have made it illegal to sell, buy, or possess some of these chemicals. However, manufacturers try to sidestep these laws by changing the chemical formulas in their mixtures

City council banning drugs?  Is that even possible?  Maybe they will just ban the sales within city limits.

This ought to be the way drugs are banned. The federal government has no enumerated power to do so.

As we still have dry counties, I'm going to assume this action is legal, unless California's state government prohibits it, though.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

"People were scared. It became what looked like a warzone. The first responders down there, they were scared. The social workers that are working with the folks down there, they were scared," he said.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

They ban them her in NJ I believe. But I think for legalaly (to stand up in court) they must ban each one by chemical compound. Change it a bit and its legal to they amend the law.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Is that the feller from Twin Peaks?

Yes. Kyle MacLachlan...

Or Mau *expletive deleted*bag, as I call him.

I've NEVER liked his acting.

What's the difference between his acting style and a wooden post?

There isn't any!

Are you kidding!? Mr. MacLachlan is amazing!

The only other actor to hold a candle to him is, of course, the great Keanu Reeves.

No, no, no.  That's Sean Maher from that movie about the fireflies.
